How do I work my direct modem connection for xbox live without restarting the modem?

I have my Xbox 360 to connect the modem directly, but I always turn on the modem after the reconnection of the Ethernet cable and my dad out fear nothing good plug. If you have any suggestions, I really appreciate it. Please do not suggest “get a router, because I will have one soon, but not sure wenn.Und’m trying to avoid spending more money than I already werden.Und already left the power cord is plugged in, is sure to mention. Thanks for trying it to help.

    get a wireless adapter for the xbox. i got one for about $80, works fine.

    Keep the wire plugged in, that what I do.
